WHAT IS A SPECIFIC LEARNING DISABILITY (SLD)?
Specific learning disability means there may be a disorder in one or more in the areas of oral expression, written expression, listening comprehension, basic reading skills, fluency and/or comprehension, and mathematical calculation and/or reasoning skills.
Learning problems linked to visual, hearing, motor disabilities, cognitive disabilities, emotional disturbance, cultural factors, environmental, or economic disadvantage are not to included when considering a student with a specific learning disability.

Requirements for Eligibility
A Specific Learning Disability requirement form is used and completed during the evaluation meeting. This form will guide the team in determining whether or not the child meets criteria for the disability or disabilities being evaluated.
