WHAT IS AN OTHER HEALTH IMPAIRMENT (OHI)?
Other Health Impairment means the student has a health condition and it does not require a diagnosis from a licensed physician. The health condition has to be either chronic or acute and it has to result in limited strength, limited vitality, and limited alertness. The health condition has to adversely affect the student's educational performance to be considered as a disability. The condition may affect academic performance, behavior, communication, social/emotional functioning, motor skills, classroom performance, and/or adaptive behavior.
Criteria Checklist
The criteria checklist for a Other Health Impairment, is used and completed during the evaluation meeting. These checklists will guide the team in determining whether or not the child meets criteria for the disability or disabilities being evaluated.
